Manuscript description
Four volumes under the same call number. Unlike some other such cases in the Dār al-Kutub, these four volume seem to be from the same original set of volumes. The numbers attributed to the volumes are partly mistaken: volume 2 is actually volume 4 and vice versa (for the remainder of this entry reference will however be made to the Dār al-Kutub volume attribution). Margins contain: correction notes, some marginal section markers. Volumes one and three have a title page in a gold frame, but it has only been filled in in volume one with text in descending triangle in the top half of the frame. Volumes two and four have basic headpieces on 1b, in volume two executed in gold and blue (which has turned green), and volume four only in gold.
- Ownership Statement
Volume one has ownership notes on title page by: Ibrāhīm b. al-Rīs Muḥammad al-Zamzajī (?) al-Bazīrtāb (?), dated to 1188/1774-5; and a waqf-seal (repeated throughout the volume) by Muḥammad ʿAlī, the wālī of Egypt, dated to 1234/1818-9. The same seal is also found in the other volumes. Volume four additionally contains a nastaʿlīq note on its first page by a certain Muḥammad Ṣāf who is known as Muḥammad Asy[…]. All volumes further contain seals of the Dār al-Kutub.
- Colophon
Volumes one and four have colophons. Volume one is dated to 15 Shaʿbān 874 / February 17, 1470 and associated to al-ʿAzīz b. ʿUmar b. Muḥammad b. Muḥammad b. Abī l-Khayr Muḥammad b. Fahd al-Hāshimī al-Makkī al-Shāfiʿī, that is the historian usually referred to as Ibn Fahd. Volume four is dated to a date slightly before that of volume one: 15 Rajab 874 / January 18, 1470.
