Manuscript description
The first volume is under the same call mark. No title page. Margins contain several commentary notes in different handwritings (many in the same hand as that of the copyist). Flyleaf contains invocations, aphorisms, some poetry, and an effaced note dated to 1247/1831-2. 1a has several notes: one by ʿAlī b. Aḥmad b. […] dated to 1239/1823-4, another similar to the note on the first volume referring to Imām al-Gawth Abī ʿAbdallāh al-Ḥusayn Qaḍiīb al-Bān), and then two notes to 111[7]/1706-7 and 11[2]1/1709-10. 195b, the last page in the original layout contains a prayer dated to 1112/1699-1700. After that, another manuscript was clearly attached to the first, which seems to be more recent: different paper, different layout (red frame with gold rubrication, red overlining). It starts with a section about the village al-Maqs (?) and ends with a section about a bridge. Flyleaf f.243b contains a four-line poem.
- Ownership Statement
The title page has one is a waqf-note by Ibrāhīm al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Ḥasanī al-ʿAlawī who donated the work to benefit students from the house of the “Sayyid Ḥāfiẓ b. Qāḍī ʿulūwān al-mansūb ilā qaḍīb al-Bān”.
