Ottoman binding in dark brown leather over paper pasteboards. The main panel of the upper and lower covers consists of gold and brown central mandorla with two pendants on the vertical axis, with corner pieces. S-shape running pattern and fillets for the border. The envelope flap has a portion of the same panel and border, with a smaller stamp on its point. Violet paper pastedown and free endpaper. Red glazed embossed paper pastedown on the envelope flap.
Manuscript description
Information obtained from the library's online catalog. Also, the printed catalog was consulted (i.e “Fihrist al-Makhṭūṭāt al-ʿArabīya fī Jāmiʿat Brinistūn: Majmūʿat Jārīt” (Translated by: Muḥammad ʿĀayish). Volume 1, p. 195. In a majmūʿ). Title from title page (fol. 2a). The paper has been frame-ruled. Illuminated title-page in gold and color, with a medallion on the left margin on f.2a. Catch-title written on the edges of the manuscript (al-Sādis min al-Nujūm al-Zāhira). After the colophon (fol. 243b), the text continues for half a page on fol. 244a, with a table of contents of the next part, entitled: ''dhikr mā ishtamala ʿalayhi hādhā al-juzʾ min mulūk miṣr''. the quires are numbered using Arabic ordinals, in the form ''al-thānī min al-sādis'' (see fol. 11a).
- Ownership Statement
Two ownership statements on the margin of fol. 2a, one in thick red ink apparently early, the other later in black ink, reading Ḥasan ibn Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan (or Ḥusayn). Acquired by Robert Garrett from Brill, 1900 (Gift ; Robert Garrett, Class of 1897 ; 1942.).
