Manuscript description
Not extensive use of the margins: few commentary notes and corrections. The topics and names which are discussed in the main text are highlighted in the margins. f.1a has a long note which praises this book and compares it to Maqāmāt al-Ḥarīrī. The folio f.209b has a saying attributed to ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib in which he warns people about the eminent destruction of the cities when they are ruled by unjust rulers. Then the writer of the note apparently compares this saying to the status of Bayt al-Maqdis and Bilād al-Shām in 971 AH (after the scape of the ʿAlawiyyīn?). There is a Persian or Ottoman Turkish note on f.209. The first flyleaf has the date: 23 July. 1877 written on it in French.
- Ownership Statement
Ownership statements of: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Aḥmad b. Muḥammad al-Nakhlī in 1124? AH (who bought it legally); then it moved to the ownership of Ibrāhīm (wiped-out name) who bought it legally as well on f.1a (also the stamp of Ibrāhīm); BNF stamps on f.1a and f.208b.
- Colophon
Colophon of (wiped-out name) b. Muḥammad al-Mālikī the Imam of the mosque of (wiped-out name) in Damascus in the Saturday’s morning in Rab īʿ al-Thānī 970 AH f.208a.
