Manuscript description
The (wrong) title on the BNF website is “ʿIqd al-Jumān fī Tārīkh Ahl al-Zamān”. However, as Nobutaka Nakamachi argues in his paper “a Historiographical Analysis of the Four Chronicles Attributed to Badr al-Dīn al-ʿAynī”, it is actually a manuscript of his work “Tārīkh al-Badr”. Information is obtained from the website of BNF & a digital copy was consulted. Some words are vocalized. A few words ending in the margin. Some corrections in the margins and within the text. Some parts from f.1b, f.98, f.99, f.168, and f.168 bis are illegible. F.19b is blank. Most papers are restored. The handwriting sometimes differ. But, according to the BNF description, it is written by the same script (Bahāʾ al-Dīn Aḥmad ibn ʿAlī al-ʿAynī, brother of the author) in several stages (f. 1-102, 103-117, 118-168, 169-186) at the Madrasa Badriyya, near the al-Azhar mosque in Cairo.
