Manuscript description
Four quires are noted in the corners. Title page (1a) renders title and author in a descending triangle. The copyist has noted text sections by use of the word ''qif'' (this practice has been defined as ''notabilia'' by Adam Gacek, Arabic manuscripts p. 168). Several marginal notes throughout the text (4b, 10b, 27b) by a certain ʿAṭṭār, which comment on the information of the main text, usually by further historicising the material within the well known framework that sees the Cairo sultanate divided in a ''Baḥriyya'' period and a period of ''Circassian'' sultans (27v, referral to al-Ẓāhir Barqūq as first sultan of the ''Jarākisa''). A marginal note by the copyist connects information in the main text to an opinion claimed to be held by the later author Jalāl al-Dīn al-Suyūṭī.
- Ownership Statement
Below the title there is a note about the text being acquired from the bequest (tirka) of [Muḥammad] Qadrī Pāshā (d. 1886) on the 10th of November 1889. Khedival stamps on 1a and 25b.
