Manuscript description
Panegyric poem to al-Malik al-Ashraf Ismāʿīl of Yemen (d. 1400), presumably written when Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī was in Yemen in 800 AH/1397-8 CE. The poem is written in a majmūʿa containing on its first pages a panegyrical advice text “Tadhkirat fī Laḥẓat al-Baṣar”, clearly a presentation copy and likely dedicated to the Egyptian sultan al-Ẓāhir Khushqadam written by the unidentified author Ḥassan b. ʿAlī al-Jīzī (colophon dated to 866/1462). The manuscript further contains an unidentified dialogue and a long note on the relationship between nature and sharīʿa referring to Aristotle, both written in a similar hand.
