very few corrections and notes in the margins. The two manuscripts are copied from manuscripts in the library of al-Azhar. The base manuscript (and its Dhayl which contains a number of biographies) is written by ʿAlī b. Dāwūd al-Khaṭīb in (879 AH), and the copyist stresses that the language of the manuscript is not good Arabic.
