Manuscript description
The first title is ''Tārīkh al-Tīmūrlank'' then the original title is written beneath it. There is also a note next to the titles says ''al-musammā bi-Ḍarbat al-ʿĀlam''. Many pages are stained. Several corrections and comment notes throughout the manuscript, but not very extensive. Sometimes. the copyist completes the sentences in the margins. For an unclear reason, someone crossed over many lines throughout the manuscript with a black pen (or a pencil). The chessboard layout is missing in this manuscript and the copyist left a blank space for it on f.218b. There is an unclear note in f.218b which probably says tha ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib has appeared to Tīmūr in the latter's dream and gave him a chess piece, and ever since Tīmūr never lost a chess game. The Uyghur alphabet is written on f.223a and f.223b (which is also missing in some manuscripts). There is a table of content on f.231a not written by the copyist. There is a note on f.231b about a famine in al-Ḥijāz in 933, and the Imams poetry which describes the people's suffering. Reading notes of: Aḥmad ʿAlī al-Ḥusaynī; Aḥmad b. al-Rifāʿī al-Ḥanafī; and (?) al-ʿAqqād. Latin Writings on more modern paper at the beginning of the book. Several poems on f.1a.
- Ownership Statement
Several ownership statements of: Muṣtafā b. Farahāt, then Aḥmad al-ʿAshmāwī (in 1099 AH), Ibrāhīm Ḥassūn in (1149 AH). The Vatican stamps on f.1a and f230.b.
