Manuscript description
Contains a very elaborately executed title page in gold, blue, and black with the title spread over two cartouches on the top and bottom of the frame and a central rosette bearing the author’s name. Many papers are stained and not legible. Extensive use of the margins: corrections, several commentary notes throughout the manuscript, a continuation of the text in the margins, and the Kurrās numbers. There is a note on f.266a says that the book is missing three papers. The manuscript is copied directly from the author's musawwada (f.266b). There is a note the margins of f.264a says that this biographical entry is written by the handwriting of al-Khayḍarī. There are many comments which engage with the details in the text (either add info, or deny that certain incident has happened).
- Ownership Statement
Ownership statements of: Ḥusayn al-Nujaymī al-Tawfīqī bi-dawalt al-Sulṭāniyya al-Aḥmadiyya (…) bi-Makka in 1015 AH; and an effaced ownership statement (f.1a). British Muesum stamps (f.253a, f.1a). Note typed on added paper at the end of the book says: ''Purchased of Mrs. Taylor April 1860''.
