Manuscript description
Papers are harmed by bookworms but still clearly legible. Margins contain: correction notes, and announcement of the topics discussed in the main text. The copyist frequently leaves (partly)-empty folios. Completion of the main text in the margins. Some lines in the main text are crossed over by black ink. There are two folios before the text which contain different texts. On one of them, there is a reading note of Muḥammad b. Qāsim b. Maḥmūd al-ʿAynī (but not sure if it is a reading note of the main book or the added texts). Sometimes the main titles are written in gold boxes. The folio f.1a has a quite uniquely illuminated titelpiece executed in luminous gold/orange and blue which has an upper cartouche (without a frame) that contains the title of the book and the name and the titles of the author, and a half-circle just below the cartouche which has the rest of the author’s name. At the lower end of the folio, there is a cartouche which contains an ex-libris which reads “bi-rasm al-janāb al-maqarrī aʿazzahu allāh”. There is a red line connects the half circle with the lower cartouche which divides the paper into two parts, and there is a small golden medallion on each side of it. Below the lower cartouche, it is written in gold “bi-rasm sayyīdī Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz aʿazzahu allāh” f.1a. Catch-title is written on the edges of the manuscript.
