Manuscript description
There is another volume of the work under the same class mark. Title page is a very finely decorated one in gold (two shades) and blue: title in the top cartouche, author name in the central rosette, floral motifs in corners and a medallion attached to the main rectangular frame in the top left corner, text written in cloud bands. Clearly a clean copy (mubayyaḍa), but title page likely added later. The middle part of the manuscript has suffered some water damage, and as a result folio's 100 to 142 have been replaced by European paper (filigrain but no discernable watermark) copied in a different hand, albeit clearly following the layout of the remainder of the manuscript. Many corrections and additions throughout the text, on f.149b the entry for Khāṣṣ Turk has been marked but not filled in. That same folio also shows that the layout starts a new verso page for the start of a new letter in the alphabetical entry arrangement, as f.149a records the last entries for the letter ḥ and f.149b the first for letter kh.
- Ownership Statement
There is a note on the title page connects the work to a caliphal benefactor but the caliph is named as al-Mahdī b. al-Manṣūr Ḥusayn b. al-Mutawakkil, who we cannot identify. Three further ownership notes on title page have been effaced and one is crossed out. Two khedival stamps.
- Colophon
No colophon. A note on the title page claims that the text is in the author's hand (bi-khaṭṭ al-muṣannif), but the title page itself refers to the author as deceased.

Black ink with red rubrications. Also there is a Basmalla on f.1b in blue ink. Extensive use of under- and overlining throughout, as well as red dots, but function of the latter is somewhat unclear (not to denote rhymed prose).
