Manuscript description
Digital copy executed. Volume 1: copied 1409-1410 while the copying date of volume 2 is unkown. Naskh script, black with red rubrication, red dots to denote poetry and saj’. Clean copy. Completion of lines in the margin, indexing of names and other contents, historicizing notes especially for Ottoman history (often in nastaʿlīq script), and correction notes. Stamp and effaced note on 308 b. The colophon on that same page dates the work to 812 (1409-1410). This first volume contains a very elaborately executed title page in gold, blue, and red, with the title spread over two cartouches on the top and bottom of the frame and a central rosette bearing the author’s name. However, this decoration was only added later to the text, as the author is named as deceased, whereas the colophon’s copying date falls well within the author’s lifetime.
Digital copy executed. Volume 2: Executed in a completely different hand, somewhat less composed naskh, red overliving and rubrication. Extensive use of the margins throughout for correction notes and additions, and various commentary notes. Perhaps a musawwada manuscript. Title page has several difficult to read and some effaced notes: one by a certain Ibrāhīm al-Ḥusaynī, another by a certain Mūsā, and an ownership note by Ibn al-Dakka (?) Ḥasan. On 221b there is the same stamp as that found on 308b in vol. 1, perhaps from the Azhar library. On f.221a there is consultation note by a certain Muḥammad, which identifies the work’s author. There is no colophon, but the end of volume on f.221a is followed by invocations in a different hand on the verso side.
