Manuscript description
Taʿlīq script. Black ink with red rubrication. Inverted comma’s to mark poetry and sajʿ, though the former is also often embedded in separate frames. Writing surface: 151x69mm, framed by one red line. Margins contain: a few commentary notes, and on the first five folio’s a lot of content markers. The paper is watermark by “AC” with a cloverleaf. The manuscript contains two colophons: the first is likely copied from the source manuscript and dated to the beginning of Rabīʿ I 84[1], which corresponds to the date given in the colophon of Dār al-Kutub Tārīkh 227. The second colophon is dated to 106[8]/1657 and gives the copyist’s name as Aḥmad b. Muṣṭafā b. Muḥammad [Afarsi?]zadeh and the location as Istanbul. There is an effaced note on 1a as well as an ownership note by a certain […] ʿAbdī. The manuscript contains the chessboard layout on 151a and Uyghur alphabet on 156b. The binding is old, with a flap and lobed centerpiece.
