Manuscript description
Naskh script. Black ink with red rubrication and overlining. Red dots and inverted commas around poetry hemistichs. Writing Surface 195x130 mm. The edges of the papers are slightly trimmed. F.1a has an illuminated box executed in gold and blue which has an upper cartouche that contains the title of the book, and a central medallion which contains the author’s name. Margins contain: correction notes, several commentary notes, and announcements of the topics discussed in the main text. Sometimes, the sentences in the main text are completed in the margins. Consistent use of catchwords. Oriental papers (some folios are darker and the black ink on them is mostly illegible probably due to the effect of the metallic ink) . Catch-title is written on the edges of the work and the number 36. The numbering is corrected consistently starting from f.109. It seems that the copyist used to write the kurras number at the left upper edge of the folios but they are trimmed now. Colophon of: ʿUmar ʿAbdullah al-Maṭarāwī? In 23 Shawwāl 898 AH (f.239b). Stamps of the waqf of ʿĀrif Ḥikmat are on f.1a and f.239b. The word “Medine” is stamped on an added leaf at the beginning of the work. Ownership statement of ʿAbdullah b. ʿAbdullah (al-Sūn?) who had as a gift from Ibn Ṭāshkbrī Zadeh (F.1a). Two stamps of ʿAbdullah b. Bahāʾ al-Dīn al-ʿUmarī al-Khālidī (f.1a, f.2a) TKSM stamp of f.1a. Binding: Dark brown leather covered with tinted and decorated paper. There is a decorated paper attached to the binding executed in green, black , and orange.
