Manuscript description
Naskh script. Black ink. Red rubrication and overlining (sometimes in blue or gold as well), and red inverted commas around poetry hemistichs and three red dots to denote the end of sentences. Writing Surface 185x120 mm (Framed by golden and blue rectangular in folios f.1b, f.2a, f.150b, and by two red lines for the rest of the. The folio f.1a has well-illuminated titelpiece executed in gold, green, luminous orange, and blue which has an upper cartouche that contains the catch-title of the book, a lower cartouche which has the rest of the title, and a central medallion which contains the author’s name. The folio f.150b has a finispieces which consists of a lower cartouche with an ex-libris which reads “ برسم المصونة المحجبة الكبرى الرضية الادر الخاصبكية (الخاصكية؟) الأشرفية جهة المقام الشريف السلطاني الملكي؟ الاشرفي النصر قايتباي أدام الله عزهما. Oriental Papers. The Kurras number is written on the top left side of the recto side (quinion gathering), and the total number is written on a flyleaf on the beginning of the work (i.e. 23). Clean margins. Consistent use of catchwords. No colophon. An ownership stamp (most probably of Sultan Ahmet) (f.1b). TKSM stamp on f.1a. There is an old call number of the manuscript on f.1a “Tārīkh 249”. Binding: brown leather with full-cover decoration executed by small tools (central turanj decorated by vegetal shapes), and decorated envelope flap tucked under the upper cover. The upper cover is loose. Catch-title is written on the edges of the manuscript.
