Manuscript description
Naskh script. Black ink with red rubrication and overlining. Red dots and inverted commas around poetry hemistichs. Writing Surface 215x130 mm. Oriental paper. F.1a has an illuminated rectangular panel executed in gold, brown, light-blue, luminous orange, and dark blue which has an upper cartouche that contains the title of the book, and a central rosette (surrounded by four center-pieces) which contains the author’s name. There is roundel to the left of the titelpiece, and light-blue and gold decoration above it. Papers are harmed by bookworms but the main text is not affected. Margins contain: correction notes; several commentary notes (some of them are reproduction of the author’s notes), and announcements of the topics discussed in the main text. Sometimes, the sentences in the main text are completed in the margins. There is more modern paper attached between f.132-f.133 contains basmala.The mistara is clear in the entire manuscript. Consistent use of catchwords.
Unnamed colophon dated 16 Rabīʿ al-Awwal 883 AH (و كان الفراغ من كتابة هذا الجزء المبارك في يوم السبت المبارك سادس عشر شهر ربيع الأول المبارك عام ثلاث و ثمانين و ثماني ماية من الهجرة النبوية). There is a note after the colophon says that this manuscript was copied from an older manuscript which was directly copied from the author’s autograph. An ownership stamp of the library of Sultan Ahmet III (f.1a). TKSM stamp on f.1a. There is an old call number of the manuscript “Tārīkh 149?” on an unnumbered folio at the beginning of the codex. Binding: Crimson leather with a full-cover themed decoration (stamped turanj and two pendants, and stamped center-pieces painted in gold with vegetal themed crimson decoration) , and decorated envelope flap tucked under the upper cover. The inside of the covers are crimson leather and stamped with a turanj as well.
