He was originally from Cairo.
He was the son of Sirāj al-Dīn ʿUmar al-Bulqīnī al-Shāfiʿī and a grandson, through his mother, of Bahāʾ al-Dīn b. ʿAqīl al-Shāfiʿī. He was a brother of ʿAlam al-Dīn Ṣāliḥ al-Bulqīnī and Badr al-Dīn al-Bulqīnī. He was an in-law and patron of Yūsuf b. Taghrī Bird and he was married to Ḥājir bint Taghrī Birdī. He was father of Muḥammad b. al-Bulqīnī and Qāsim b. al-Bulqīnī. He was patron of Muḥammad al-Barmāwī.
He was qāḍī quḍāt shāfiʿīya (804-21, 821/2?-4), qāḍī ʿaskar (?-824) and mudarris zāwīyat al-Khashshābīya (?-824) in Egypt.
