He was a mamlūk of Bashbughā and of Buzlār al-ʿUmarī and a mamlūk and khāṣṣakī of al-Ẓāhir Barqūq; he was aghā of Tanbak al-Ẓāhirī, al-Mu’ayyad Shaykh and Nawrūz al-Ḥāfiẓī, and he was khusdāsh of ʾArghūn min Bashbughā. He was ʾustādh of Shāhīn, Taghrī Birmish al-Ṣaghīr, Sūdūn, Yūnus and Ṭūghān al-Sayfī Taghrī Birdī. He was makhdūm of Qānī Bāy al-Ḥamzāwī. He was the owner of Zayn al-Dīn Khushqadam al-Ṭawāshī. He was patron of Ṭughān al-Sayfī Taghrī Birdī, ʾAḥmad b. al-Ḥājj ʿUmar and ʾAḥmad b. al-Saffāḥ. He was ṣāḥib of ʾAḥmad b. Ramaḍān al-Turkumānī.
He was the father of Yūsuf, Qāsim, Ḥamza, ʾIsmāʾīl, ʾIbrāhīm, Muḥammad, Fāṭima, Ḥājir, Bayram and ʾĀʿisha Shaqrāʾ. He was married to Malak bint Ibn Qarā and others. He was father-in-law of al-Nāṣir Faraj.
He was member of the khāṣṣakīya, ʾamīr 010, ʾamīr 040, and ʾamīr 100, and he was sāqī, raʾs nawba jamdārīya, raʾs nawba kabīr, ʾamīr majlis, ʾamīr silāḥ, ʾatābak ʿasākir and raʾs maysara in Egypt. He was nāʾib of Aleppo and of Damascus. He was baṭṭāl in Jerusalem.
He was a rūmī.
He was a close companion of al-Ẓāhir Barqūq, and then again of his son al-Nāṣir Faraj. He was deeply involved in the conflicts of al-Nāṣir Faraj’s first and second reign.
