By the Sultan’s orders ʾAsandamur al-Sharafī raʾs nawba, ʾĀqbughā al-Ẓarīf al-Bajāsī, ʾIsmāʿīl al-Turkumānī, Kizil al-Qirimī, and Sarbughā were then crucified and after being paraded through Cairo were taken to the rubbish hill (al-kūm) and halved at the waist - a form of punishment which no ruler before him had inflicted on an amir, but to which al-Ẓāhir now restored because of the resentment which he harbored toward them as a result of their activities against himself.
