Amir Qarā Damurdāsh al-ʾAḥmadī, governor of Tripoli, had undertaken to fight Minṭāsh because there had been long-standing enmity between them. In the fierce battle that ensued Minṭāsh and Qarā Damurdāsh had gone out from the ranks for personal combat, and the sword of each had reached the other’s body; Minṭāsh’s blow had struck Qarā Damurdāsh’s hand and cut off several of his fingers, while the latter’s had struck and severed Minṭāsh’s shoulder.
