What concerned the mentioned feast, it was not as the usual feasts of the ʾakābir, however, her trousseau was unlimited. It was not carried on the heads of carriers, as was the custom of the trousseaus, but it was brought out from storehouses and set up in the house of “entry” - I mean the house of her uncle kātib sirr judge Kamāl al-Dīn.
When it was vacated from half the equipment, furniture and utensils, there was given permission to the people to enter and to see the mentioned equipment. The people saw costumes, embroidery, different kinds of fur, utensils from crystal and silver plated gold, textiles with Chinese writings. How surprising and baffling it was! I myself entered the hall mentioned, in which I saw costumes like I had never seen before, and I did not see few of them. [Like those of] karīma khawand Fātima was the wife of al-Malik al-Nāsir Faraj b. Barqūq and she was the khawand kubrā and ṣāḥibat qāʿa until al-Malik al-Nāṣir died and of khawand daughter of al-Malik al-Manṣūr Ḥājjī [who] was the first wife of my father, and also of khawand ḥājj Malak Bint Ibn Qarā, wife of al-Malik al-Ẓāhir Barqūq.
I saw what had belonged to them from costumes, furniture and textiles.
From then until our days it had grown
we had not seen or heard a similar trousseau, not of its largesse, nor beauty and not of its comprehensiveness of embroidered mosquito nets with tassels that were decorated with enormous pearls, nor all sorts of textiles that none of the princesses had before her.
