ثم في يوم السبت ثالث جمادى الآخرة نزل الناصري بعساكره بركة الجب ظاهر القاهرة ومعه من أكابر الأمراء الأمير تمربغا الأفضلي الأشرفي المدعو منطاش والأمير بزلار العمري الناصري حسن والأمير كمشبغا الحموي اليلبغاوي نائب طرابلس كان والأمير أحمد بن يلبغا العمري أمير مجلس والأمير أيدكار حاجب الحجاب وجماعة أخر من أمراء الشام ومصر وغيرها.
ثم تقدمت عساكر الناصري إلى المرج وإلى مسجد التبن فعند ذلك غلقت أبواب القاهرة كلها إلا باب زويلة وأغلقت جميع الدروب والخوخ وسد باب القرافة وانتشرت الزعر في أقطار المدينة تأخذ ما ظفرت به ممن يستضعفونه.

Saturday, II jumādā 3 [2]. Al-Nāṣirī encamped with his armies at the Lake of the Pit, outside Cairo; with him were of the chief amirs Tamurbughā al-ʾAfḍalī al-ʾAshrafī, known as Minṭāsh; Buzlār al-ʿUmarī al-Nāṣirī Ḥasan; Kumusbughā al-Ḥamawī al-Yalbughāwī, former governor of Tripoli; ʾAḥmad ibn Yalbughā al-ʿUmarī, amir of the council; ʾAydakār, great chamberlain; and a number of other amirs of Damascus, Cairo, and elsewhere. Al-Nāṣirī’s forces then advanced to al-Marj and to the Straw Mosque, and all the gates of Cairo except the Zuwayla Gate were thereupon closed; likewise all the gates of the barricades and posterns were shut, and the Qarāfa Gate was blocked up, while the rabble (al-zuʿr) spread through all quarters of the city, seizing anyone who was too weak to resist.
