وفي يوم الثلاثاء ثالث عشر جمادى الآخرة غمز على الملك الظاهر برقوق من بيت أبي يزيد.
وأمره أنه لما نزل بالإسطبل بالليل سار على قدميه حتى وصل إلى بيت أبي يزيد أحد أمراء العشرات واختفى بداره ولم يعرف له خبر وكثر الفحص عليه من قبل الناصري وغيره وهجم في مدة اختفائه على بيوت كثيرة فلم يقف له أحد على خبر.
وتكرر النداء عليه والتهديد على من أخفاه فخاف الملك الظاهر من أن يدل عليه فيؤخذ غصبًا باليد فلا يبقى عليه فأرسل أعلم الأمير ألطنبغا الجوباني بمكانه فتوجه إليه الجولاني واجتمع به وأخذه وطلع به إلى الناصري على ما سنذكره.

Tuesday, the 13th. Al-malik al-Ẓāhir was denounced to the authorities as being hidden in the home of ʾAbū Yazīd. The story is as followss: the night on which he descended from the stables, Barqūq walked on foot until he reached the house of ʾAbū Yazīd, an amir of 10, and went into hiding there without anyone’shaving any knowledge of his whereabouts. Intensive search for him was instituted on behalf of al-Nāṣirī and others, and during his concealment many homes were subjected to sudden search, but no one came upon any news of him. However, when proclamations and threats directed against anyone who might conceal him were repeatedly made, Barqūq came to fear that someone mighte betray his whereabouts and that he might be taken forcibly by hand and no mercy be shown him. So he sent and informed amir ʾAlṭunbughā al-Jūbānī where he was; al-Jūbānī then came to meet him and proceeded to take him to al-Nāṣirī, as will be narrated later.
