Account of the beginning of the feud (fitna) between Great Amir Yalbughā al-Nāṣirī and amir Tamurbughā al-ʾAfḍalī called Minṭāsh.
On shaʿbān 16, a report was spread in Cairo that Minṭāsh had become estranged from al-Nāṣirī. This report originated from the fact that Minṭāsh, for the alledged reason that he was sick, had remained away from the court service (al-khidma), and al-Nāṣirī, realizing that he had in mind some ruse, on the day in question, Monday, Shaʿbān 16 [15], instead of going down himself to pay Minṭāsh the sick visit, sent amir ʾAltunbughā al-Jūbānī, raʾs nawba kabīr, in his stead. Al-Jūbānī entered to Minṭāsh, greeted him, and paid his respects as was customary on such a visit, but when he was about to rise Minṭāsh seized him together with twenty of his mamlūks, and administered so severe a beating to al-Jūbānī’s dawādār Qurqmās that he died a few days later.
