When the afternoon call for prayer was chanted al-Nāṣirī with Qarā Damurdāsh al-ʾAḥmadī, amir of the arms, ʾAḥmad ibn Yalbughā, amir of the council, ʾᾹqbughā al-Jawharī al-ʾustādār, ʾᾹlābughā al-ʿUthmānī al-dawādār, and amir Qarā Kask, went up with a number of mamlūks to the citadel, and then descended from it by the Qarāfa Gate. As soon as al-Nāṣirī left the gate of the Chain to ascend to the citadel and descend by the Qarāfa Gate, those in the citadel sent word to Minṭāsh, who immediatly with those who were with him rode up to the Royal Stables and took possession of them. The Stables were plundered, and many horses and much accouterment taken, while the rabble (al-zuʿr) and populace went by different ways to the houses of the fugitives, plundered them, and took whatever they could find, though a number of places were successfully defended by the men (al-nās).
