ثم أمر منطاش فنودي بالقاهرة أن من أحضر مملوكًا من مماليك برقوق فله كذا وكذا وهدد من أخفى واحدًا منهم.
قلت: وما فعله منطاش هو الحزم فإنه أزال من يخشاه وقرب مماليكه وأصحابه وكاد أمره أن يتم بذلك لو ساعدته المقادير وكيف تساعده المقادير وقد قدر بعود برقوق إلى ملكه بحركة منطاش وبركوبه على الناصري.

At Minṭāsh’s order the following proclamation was then made in Cairo: “Whoever brings to me ont of Barqūq’s mamlūks will receive so and so much”; and punishment was threatened for anyone who concealed any of them. I remark: What Minṭāsh did showed good judgement, for he put out of the way those whom he feared, and showed favor to his own mamlūks and companions; and if he had been aided by fate (al-maqādīr) he would doubtlessly have been successful; but how could fate aid him now when the return of Barqūq to power had already been fated by Minṭāsh’s procedure and his revolt against al-Nāṣirī.
