ثم أخذ منطاش فيما يفعله في أمر دمشق وغيرها - على ما سيأتي ذكره - بعد أن يقعد له قواعد بمصر فبدأ منطاش في اليوم المذكور بالقبض على الطواشي صواب السعدي المعروف بشنكل مقدم المماليك السلطانية.

Minṭāsh then began to plan the measures which he should take (they will be discussed later) in regard to affairs at Damascus and elsewhere after he should have established himself firmly in Egypt. On the day last mentioned he began by arresting the eunuch Ṣawāb al-Saʿdī, called Shankal, barrack commander of the sultan’s mamlūks.
