Qāḍī al-quḍāt Jamāl al-Dīn ʿAbd Allāh b. Miqdād b. ʾIsmāʿīl al-ʾAqfahasī al-Mālikī died on 14/05, at the age of about 80. He had been appointed as qāḍī al-quḍāt al-malikīya twice, the first time in the days of al-Nāṣir Faraj, after the death of Nūr al-Dīn ʿAlī b. Yūsuf b. Jalāl, on 13/06/803 and stayed in this function for 4 months and 10 days. He was replaced on 23/09 by Ibn Khaldūn. Then he was appointed a second time and stayed in function for 5 years, 4 months and 2 days. He died in function. He was a faqīh, excelled in fiqh. He had learnt from Shaykh Jalīl, and had been the representative in justice of Sulaymān al-Basāṭī, from 778 until he became judge. He taught at the Qamḥiya and in other places. For years his fatwa’s were relied on.
