وكان حضور طرباي إلى القاهرة عائدا إليها من دمشق في يوم الثلاثاء أول شهر رمضان من سنة خمس
عشرة وثمانمائة وكان الذي قدم صحبة طرباي من عند الأمير نوروز إلى القاهرة الأمير بكتمر السيفي
تغري بردي أعني أحد مماليك الوالد وكان من جملة أمراء الطبلخانات بدمشق وكان قبل خروجه من
دمشق أوصاه الأمير نوروز أنه لا يقبل الأرض بين يدي الملك المؤيد فلما وصل إلى الديار المصرية
وحضر بين يدي السلطان أمره أرباب الدولة بتقبيل الأرض فأبى وقال: مرسلي أمرني بعدم تقبيل
الأرض فاشاط الملك المؤيد غضبا وكاد أن يأمر بضرب رقبته حتى شفع فيه من حضر من الأمراء ثم
قبل الأرض.

Ṭarabāy returned from Damascus to Cairo on Tuesday 01/09/0815. With Ṭarabay arrived the person who had escorted him from amir Nawrūz to Cairo: amir Baktamur al-Sayfī Taghrī Birdī, I mean one of the mamluks of my father, and one of the amirs of 40 of Damascus. Before he left Damascus, amir Nawrūz had ordered him not to kiss the ground before al-Malik al-Muʾayyad. When he arrived in Egypt and came before the sultan, the ʾarbāb al-dawla ordered him to kiss the ground, but he refused and said: “The one who sent me ordered me not to kiss the ground”. Al-Muʾayyad Shayk inflamed with anger and almost ordered to cut off his head, but the amirs who were present interceded for him, and then he kissed the ground.
