In 769, al-ʾAshraf Shaʿbān freed ʾUljāy [from the prison of Alexandria] and he gafe him the rank of muqaddam ʾalf. He made him ʾamīr silāḥ barrānī. Then he made him ʾamīr silāḥ, ʾatābak al-ʿasākir, as well as nāẓir al-māristān al-manṣūrī, in stead of the amir Mankalī Bughā Shamsī, in 774.
