Text
Summary
791 AH, 20/09
Ramaḍān 20. The horse post brought word that Buzlār, governor of Damascus, had been captured by amir Jantamur, brother of Ṭāz. Minṭāsh was almost beside himself with joy at the news, for Buzlār was one of the most powerful of the chief amirs, and was renowned as a warrior, as will be described later in his biography. Al-malik al-Ẓāhir Barqūq also had been in fear of him, and had exiled him to Syria; Buzlār had then sided with al-Nāṣirī, who, however, likewise feared mischief from him and had appointed him straightway to the governorship of Damascus. When the report of Buzlār’s capture reached Minṭāsh he laid aside his arms and ordered his amirs and mamlūks to do likewise, for during all this long time they had remained under arms every day.
