Summary
791 AH, 10/10
Then another report arrived that amir Kumushbughā al-Ḥamawī al-Yalbughāwī, governor of Aleppo, had rebelled and had arrested a number of the amirs of that city. Before this happened the governor had fought a battle with ʾIbrāhīm ibn Quṭluqtamur the treasurer, whom he captured and halved at the waist, together with Shihāb al-Dīn ʾAḥmad ibn ʾAbī l-Riḍā, shafiite qāḍī l-quḍā of Aleppo. The two had made an attack on Kumushbughā in which they had been joined by the inhabitants of Bānaqusā, and when he defeated them he put a large number of them to death.
I note that this ʾIbrāhīm ibn Quṭluqtamur is the amir who was involved in the agreement with the caliph and Qurṭ al-Kāshif to kill al-Ẓāhir Barqūq. Al-Ẓāhir had seized the two, however, and has deposed the caliph, keeping him in prison for several years, as has been recounted before. ʾIbrāhīm, when Minṭāsh first came into power, had been given by him an emirate of 100 and had been mad amir of the council in place of ʾAḥmad ibn Yalbughā; but a few days later Minṭāsh, in fear of trouble from him, had banished him to Aleppo as an amir of 100, and he had remained there until he now met his fate at the hand of this Kumushbughā.
