وسار من الغد في يوم ثاني عشرين شوال إلى نحو دمشق، ونائبها يوم ذاك جنتمر أخو طاز، وقد وصل إليه الأمير الطنبغا الحلبي من مصر نائبا بحلب عوضاً عن الأمير كمشبغا الحموي، فاستعدوا لقتال الملك الظاهر، ومعهما أيضاً حسام الدين حسن بن باكيش نائب غزة بعساكرها.

On shawwāl 22, al-malik al-Ẓāhir set out towards Damascus. the governor of Damascus at that time was Jantamur, brother of Ṭāz; there had arrived in Damascus also from Cairo amir ʾAlṭunbughā al-Ḥalabī on his way to Aleppo, of which he had been appointed governor in succession to amir Kumushbughā al-Ḥamawī. Together with amir Ḥusām al-Dīn Ḥasan ibn Bākīsh, governor of Gaza, and the forces of that city, they prepared for war against al-Ẓāhir.
