ثم في يوم السبت أول ذي الحجة من سنة إحدى وتسعين وسبعمائة قدم الخبر على منطاش من الصعيد بأن العسكر الذي مع أسندمر بن يعقوب شاه واقع الأمراء الظاهرية بمدينة قوص وكسرهم وقبض عليهم، فسر منطاش بذلك، وخص عنه بعض الأمر، ودقت البشائر لذلك ثلاثة أيام

Saturday, Dhū l-Ḥijja 1, 791. Minṭāsh received a report from Upper Egypt that the army with ʾAsandamur ibn Yaʿqūb Shāh had attacked the mamlūks ẓāhirīya in the city of Qūṣ, and had defeated and captured them. Minṭāsh was pleased, for he felt his troubles lightened somewhat, and the good news was celebrated for three days by the beating of drums.
