ثم طلب منطاش الشيخ شمس الدين محمد الركراكي المالكي وألزمه بالكتابة على الفتوى في أمر الملك الظاهر برقوق، فامتنع من الكتابة غاية الامتناع، فضربه منطاش مائة عصاة وسجنه بالإسطبل.

Minṭāsh then summoned shaykh Shams al-Dīn Muḥammad al-Rakrākī the Malikite and demanded that he sign the judicial decision regarding al-malik al-Ẓāhir; the shaykh emphatically refused to do so, whereupon Minṭāsh subjected him to a hundred lashes and imprisoned him in the Royal Stables.
