وفي ثامن عشر شهر ربيع الأول أخلع السلطان على الشيخ محمد الركراكي المالكي باستقراره في قضاء المالكية بالديار المصرية عوضاً عن تاج الدين بهرام الدميري. والركراكي هذا هو الذي كان امتنع من الكتابة على الفتيا في أمر الملك الظاهر برقوق لما كتب عليها البلقيني وغيره من القضاة والعلماء، وضربه منطاش بسبب عدم كتابته، وحبسه إلى أن أطلقه بطا فيمن أطلق من سجن منطاش، فعرف له الظاهر ذلك وولاه قضاء المالكية.

I Rabīʿ 18. The sultan invested shaykh Muḥammad al-Rakrākī with the office of chief Malikite cadi of Egypt in succession to Tāj al-Dīn Bahrām al-Damīrī; this al-Rakrākī is the cadi who refused to sign the judicial opinion (al-fatīyā) concerning al-Ẓāhir when al-Bulqīnī and other cadis and scholars did sign it, and whom Minṭāsh flogged and then imprisoned for his refusal; he had remained in prison until Buṭā had released him among others from Minṭāsh’s prison, and al-Ẓāhir now acknowledged his indebtedness to al-Rakrākī by his appointment as Malikite cadi.
