وبينما السلطان في ذلك وصل إليه الخبر من الشام بأن منطاشاً ونعير بن حيار جمعوا جمعاً كبيراً من المماليك الأشرفية والتركمان والعربان وقصدوا النواب، والأمير يلبغا الناصري مقدم العساكر فلما بلغ الناصري ذلك خرج هو والأمير ألطنبغا الجوباني نائب الشام وغيره من دمشق ونزل بسلمية، وخلّفوا الأمير الكبير أيتمش البجاسي بدمشق لحفظها

While the sultan’s attention was thus engaged a report came to him from Syria that Minṭāsh and Nuʿayr ibn Ḥayyār had gathered a large force of ʾashrafīya mamlūks, Turkumān, and Arabs, with the object of attacking the governors and Yalbughā al-Nāṣirī, commander of the armies. When al-Nāṣirī heard of their purpose, he, amir ʾAlṭunbughā al-Jūbānī, governor of Damascus, and others had gone out from Damascus and encamped at Salamīya, leaving Great Amir ʾAytamish al-Bajāsī in Damascus to guard it.
