On rajab 9, qāḍī Shihāb al-Dīn al-Qurashī, chief judge of Damascus, was subjected to another cudgeling in the Shamāʾil Treasury prison, and as a result died that night; the expense of his burial was borne by the endowment for the burial of the unclaimed dead.
