818 AH, end of Ṣafar:
Al-Muʾayyad took out the Muʾayyadī dirham and summoned the chief judges and the amirs. He deliberated with them and they wanted to make the Nāṣirī worth nothing and to bring them back to the form of the harja. Al-Bulqīnī said to him: This means a loss of lots of money, and he did not like this idea and it was decided to ban the Nāṣirī temporarily. Then the sultan ordered to melt those that were obtained and to make harja’s out of them, and 7000 dinar were spoilt like this. The judges and other persons ordered to consider their opinion for the setting of a price for the beaten silver, and it was agreed that every small dirham was worth 9 dirham, and every big dirham was worth 18 dirham, that the weight of the small one was 7 carat of pure silver and the weight of a big one 14 carat and it stayed this way. There were lots of them in the hands of the people and they did business with them.
