Text
Summary
Amir Tāj had been present there and qāḍī Jalāl al-Dīn had advised him to hide, because he feared that the common people would harm him because the rumour had been spread that he was the reason of the shortage. He returned secretly, then, afterwards, al-Tāj went to the nearby town and opened the storehouses with wheat. He obliged the owners of it to sell and distribute it to the millers in the quantities they needed. Then God-He is exalted- was friendly towards his servants and he made the crops grow. The people were happy because of their beauty in the spring, then they were happy for themselves because they could eat green beans, then, from the beginnings of Dhū al-Ḥijja dried barley. People left in groups to the countryside, then the harvest of the wheat in Upper-Egypt came close and people freed their hands to buy, and there were many traders amongst the merchants, and many arrived. Despite of this the high price persisted and the demand of wheat remained high.
