Account of the deposition of al-Malik al-Ẓāhir Yilbāy from the sultanate of Egypt.

On Wednesday afternoon, 04/05, the amirs 100 ascended to the citadel, in order to spend the night there, as custom had it. The Muʾayyadīya, however, refrained from ascending, as did those who had made an agreement with them, with the exception of amir Jānibak al-ʾĪnālī al-ʾAshrafī, known as Qulaqsīz, the ʾamīr majlis, who at that time was the kabīr of the ʾAshrafīya kibār. He ascended to the citadel and joined the Ẓāhirīya kibār and the Ẓāhirīya ṣighār, the julbān.
When all amirs who were ascending to the citadel that Wednesday afternoon had done so, amir Yashbak al-Faqīh al-Muʾayyadī, the dawādār kabīr had stayed behind, with his khushdāshīya amir Qānī Bak al-Maḥmūdī al-Muʾayyadī, the ʾamīr silāḥ, Mughulbāy Ṭāz al-ʾAbū Bakrī al-Muʾayyadī, and Jānibak al-ʾIsmāʿīlī al-Muʾayyadī, known as Kūhīya (all amirs 100, just like Yashbak al-Faqīh), and another group of his khushdāshīya, consisting of amirs 40 and amirs 10, the ʾajall of these being amirs Ṭūkh, the zardkāsh. The latter moved most of the weapons of war, the nufūṭ (guns), etc. from the sultan’s zardkhānāt to the house of amir Yashbak, the dawādār.
These were joined by a large group of amirs 10 of the ʾAshrafīya kibār and their khushdāshīya, ʾaʿyān of the khāṣṣakīya and others. Indeed, by most of the ʾAshrafīya kibār and ʾAshrafīya ṣighār mamluks, as well as a large group of Sayfīya amirs, and ʾaʿyān of their khāṣṣakīya.
