ثم في يوم الاثنين خامس عشره استدعى السلطان الشيخ ولي الدين أحمد ابن الحافظ زين الدين عبد الرحيم العراقي الشافعي وخلع عليه باستقراره قاضي قضاة الشافعية بالديار المصرية بعد موت قاضي القضاة جلال الدين عبد الرحمن البلقيني فنزل العراقي إلى داره في موكب جليل بعد أن اشترط على السلطان أنه لا يقبل شفاعة أمير في حكم فسر الناس بولايته.

The sultan summoned shaykh Walī al-Dīn ʾAḥmad b. al-Ḥāfiẓ Zayn al-Dīn ʿAbd al-Raḥīm al-ʿIrāqī al-Shāfiʿī. He gave him a robe of honour and appointed him as qāḍī al-quḍāt al-shāfiʿī of Egypt after the death of qāḍī al-quḍāt Jalāl al-Dīn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Bulqīnī. Al-ʿIrāqī went down to his home in a nice procession, after that the sultan had accepted the stipulation that he should not accept the intercession of any amir in his judgments. The people were happy because of his appointment.
