The ʾAshrafīya (his khushdāshīya) and the Ẓāhirīya mamlūks join Minṭāsh. The Ẓāhirīya mamlūks hope to secure Barqūq’s release in this way. Thus, Minṭāsh’s number of horsemen increased from 70 to 500, and a large crowd of the ʿāmma joined him as well.

Yalbughā al-Nāṣirī is joined by the Yalbughāwīya, who are the greater part of the egyptian army and the oldest amirs (ʾakābir al-ʾumarāʾ).
