The sultan held a session to speak justice between the common people, something he had stopped to do and started again with this. He had Ibn al-Ṭablāwī, the wālī of Cairo beaten with a whip in his presence, but did not dismiss him. He appointed al-Malaṭī as nāʾib of al-Wajh al-Qiblī in replacement of Sūdun al-Qāḍī.
