Second of the three niyābas of the fourth Ṣafaqa (ash-sharqīya). It already preceded that shce was the first addition to Tripoli, in the group of daʿwa-citadels. Afterwards, it was joined to Damascus, and it remained like that until now. Sometimes its nāʾib is an amir of forty, sometimes an amir of ten. His appointment always comes from the sultanic gates. Its nāʾib only corresponds with him on important matters, with the exclusion of the collection of taxes too.
