He is responsible for the all the postmen (al-barīdīya) in Damascus. One of the statesmen informed me that during the reing of an-Nāṣir Ibn Qalāwūn, it was united (188) with one of the group of postmen. Now, it has been fixed for two, either one amir of ten and one of five, or an amir of five and a soldier, or the like. For each of them a tawqīʿ karīm is written from the sultan, according their rank.
