As for the amirs aṭ-ṭablakhānāt, their number used to be forty amirs, every one of them having in his service forty mamlūks. At his door, three drums were beaten and two trumpets, and now two ṭablaʾs and two flutes. Among them, there are also those who have an office and those who donʾt.
