Then, on 21 jumādā I 790, Ṣarāy Tamur dawādār al-ʾamīr Yūnus al-Nawrūzī al-dawādār and a mamluk of the governor of Aleppo Yalbughā al-Nāṣirī have announced that the army went to Sīwās and fought its army. Its inhabitants had called the Tatars for help. 60 000 Tatars came. The army of Egypt and Aleppo fought against them during a whole day until it defeated them and besieged Sīwās, after a lot of people of the two armies have been killed and hurt. And food was very scarce.
790 AH, 27/06
The sultan prepared 50 000 egyptian dinars, and thanked them. Maliktamur, the second dawādār, left with the gold a few days after his arrival in Egypt. Maliktamur left for this second time with the gold on 27 jumādā II 790. This is what informed him Ṣarāy Tamur dawādār al-ʾamīr Yūnus al-Nawrūzī al-dawādār.
As for what happened there after this, the army left Sīwās because of its long stay there. When they were going, the Tatars attacked their rear. Amir Yalbughā al-Nāṣirī attacked the enemy in the rear, killed many of them and took around 1000 prisonners and 10 000 horses, and the army came back unharmed to Aleppo. These second news arrived too thanks to a mamluk of amir Yūnus al-dawādār. The sultan rejoiced at that. The “good news drums” were beaten in Egypt.
790 AH, 03/08
He ordered the army to return to Egypt, so it came back on 3 shaʿbān 790. It has been absent during one year and some days. When it came back, and went up to the citadel, the sultan gave many robes to it, and he thanked them. And they went down to their palaces (duwar) and there were many congratulations.
