Usually, the wālī al-shurṭa is informed every day by his deputies about the events in his territory, like murders, great fires and the like. Then a general report is written of that and it is brought to the sultan every morning. He attends to that. (masālik) As for the personal things that happen to the people, they [are] not [taken into consideration].
